Selam, the oldest child ever discovered

Ethiopian paleontologist Zeresenay Alemseged holds the fossilised skull of Selam, the oldest child ever discovered. She is a 3-year-old girl from Dikika in Ethiopia's Afar region who died about 3.3 million years ago - possibly in a flood. She is classified as Australopithecus afarensis which would put her in the same family as her older contemporary Lucy, found in the same region of Ethiopia. She was unvelied today at the National Museum in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
